Valdese Weavers releases video of its new showroom, preps for Showtime opening

Valdese Weavers has relocated its High Point showroom from the sixth floor of Market Square Tower to 311 N. Hamilton St., and it is prepped to open the space next week during Showtime

Occupying the entire third floor of the building, the new space was originally set to host to several events during last April’s High Point Market and officially open in May during ITA Showtime, but plans for both were delayed by pandemic-related market cancellations. Now, after trial openings during the fall Premarket and High Point Market, Valdese Weavers is officially opening the space during the Nov. 15-18 Showtime with a small ribbon cutting ceremony.

“This is simply a very momentous decision for us,” said Mike Shelton, president and CEO of Valdese Weavers.  “We have enjoyed a wonderful 30-year home at Market Square Tower, and I feel that we established an identity for Valdese Weavers on the sixth floor of Market Square Tower that allowed us to showcase, in the best possible way, our growing portfolio of brands.”

The company started out in Market Square Tower in 1990 with a single showroom space. As of last Showtime, Valdese

Palm Springs inspires Art Hide and Ground Control’s new rug collection

The architecture, vintage style and desert landscape of Palm Springs has been infused into a new range of customizable rugs by Australian-founded brands Art Hide and Ground Control.

The new collection draws inspiration from founding sister duo Kura Perkins and Bree Hay-Hendry’s love of Palm Springs’ magic, old school charm and desert landscape.

Highlights of Art Hide premium cowhide collection include bold patterns featuring tones of shrimp, cognac and swimming pool jades, alongside muted tones such as dry moss, sand and charcoal. Alongside custom dyeing, the company’s laser burning technique has also been incorporated.

The Ground Control collection features textured jute and wool in raw tones, mixed with earthy and marbled hues. Sleek lines mixed with both organic and geometric shapes are a true nod to the vintage heyday of Palm Springs design.

“My favorite piece from the Ground Control range is the Breezeblocks, with its pattern that evokes this classic architectural feature from Palm Springs,” said Hay-Hendry, creative director. “From the Art Hide collection, I can’t go past the science fiction-inspired Hornet with its pops of bold color and luxe gold detailing.”
