Fabric company Outdura has added a 10-year manufacturer’s warranty on all of its outdoor upholstery fabrics, making it the first in the outdoor industry to do so, according to the company.
“At Outdura, our staff has worked very hard to successfully improve our quality control during the manufacturing process and to increase our fabric production quality,” said Uli Tombuelt, Sattler/Outdura CEO and director of sales casual furniture division.
“A 60,000 double-rub abrasion test is just one of the many quality tests performed at our ISO-certified mill. All of our fabrics are also put through a rigorous multi-step inspection process throughout manufacturing to ensure that the highest quality outdoor upholstery fabrics are produced,” he added.
Tombuelt said the quality process, along with providing a 10-year warranty, will give designers, specifiers and retail sales associates more confidence in using Outdura performance fabrics while also reducing operating costs.
The company’s U.S.-made solution-dyed acrylic fabrics have color pigments that penetrate through the fiber, not just on the surface. Tombuelt said they are not only UV-fade resistant after 1500 hours of testing, but also stain, water, mold and mildew resistant.
The Outdura 10-year warranty covers fabric damaged as a result of loss of color or strength from normal exposure conditions, including sunlight, mildew, rot and atmospheric chemicals if the fabric has been properly installed, utilized and maintained.
The Marine and Shade collections will continue to offer a 10-year warranty as well, according to the company. The new extended upholstery warranty includes more than 300 fabrics from the collections of Ovation 3, Modern Textures and the Upholstery Performance Solids and coming soon, Ovation 4.
